Hey, Everyone -
On April 4, five of us met together for a productive hour or so at the Teen Advisory Group meeting. And we ate most of the refreshments.
Everyone had ideas for Teen activities this summer. Here are some -
- Young Adult room: make it more informal-looking; hang a ceiling light or other decoration.
- Summer Reading program: the theme is "metamorphosis." The group came up with a lot of books and movies that explore this theme, e.g. "The Picture of Dorian Gray," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "The Fly," "The Time Machine," "Flowers for Algernon," stories by Isaac Asimov and the HP-based book, "The Seems".
- Movies: the library currently has no license to show movies; the librarian will investigate rights to show movies again.
- Crafts/games: customizing t-shirts is still fun (t-shirt metamorphosis); open to other craft ideas as well. Chess club will meet again this summer; other games are good, too.
- Improv/acting: MS students are interested in theater; maybe an adaptation of a classic or current work, with minimal set design; one more improv session will be scheduled.
- Technology: last summer a webmaster class was held. This summer tech classes that support the teen film festival were brainstormed, e.g. film techniques, animation, sound; may also want podcasts on teen webpage.
- Film Festival: not everyone at the meeting participated last year, but heard it was really good, and would like another festival this year.
Thanks for all the ideas! As a creative group, we can line up some fun, interesting summer events. Stop by or email anytime. Cheers!
